About Hormone Replacement Therapy
Over the past few years hormone replacement therapy has become a feared
term by many women. The WHI study which was published in 2002 warned
users of HRT regarding the increase risk of breast cancer, strokes,
clots and heart disease. Synthetic hormones as used in the WHI study are
not similar structurally to what the body naturally produced and
utilized. When discussing Bio-Equivalent Hormone Replacement (BHRT) it is
important to understand the difference between it and pharmaceutical
hormones.
Today women are more educated about HRT than everand they want to learn
about alternatives. Bio-Equivalent pellets are
helping women (and men) get their lives back. These pellets are made by
compounding pharmacists and are derived from soy and other plants. Not
only are we able to adjust estradiol (estrogen), we are able to administer
testosterone as well, which plays an important role in our lives.
Testosterone levels begin to decline in our mid twenties; by the time a
woman is menopausal she has lost a significant amount of this critical
hormone. So often in practice we hear women complain of feeling tired,
depressed and having no libido. Certainly these issues can be
multifactorial, but we have found when a women's testosterone levels are
brought back to normal it gives her the confidence and desire to live
her life again. Dr. Goshow-Harris and Dina Anderson, MSN, RNC, were
trained by Dr. Gino Tutera. He is a pioneer in the field of BHRT and has
helped thousands of men and women over the past twelve years to become
hormonally balanced. We would encourage you to visit his website at

. There is also a complete list of research articles on his website as
well.
Although we are discussing hormonal balance here, it is vital to
understand that the body responds best when a holistic approach is
taken. By this we mean addressing body, mind, and spirit. The pellets
are wonderful at taking care of symptoms, bone health, libido etc. but
if a woman is not being proactive about healthy eating habits, exercise
and stress reduction a piece of the puzzle is missing. We want all of
our patients to benefit as much as possible from this therapy. Taking
time out for ourselves is one of the most important things one can do to
achieve healthful living. Most women put their families, jobs etc.
before themselves and thus the cycle begins. Small dieting changes over
time and initiating exercise can make a big difference in how we feel
about ourselves. Patiants are increasingly educating themselves regarding
the use of supplements and we certainly support this. There are two
companies that we recommend for supplements they are
www.JuicePlus.com
and www.Nordicnaturals.com .
Basic supplements would include good quality multivitamin, Omega 3FA,
(DHA and EPA) Calcium with vitamin D and Magnesium.
